Itinerary
1 Day
Bishkek - Burana Tower - Kok Moinok Canyon - Son Kol lake
On the way, we’re stopping by Tokmok town (80km) to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site Burana Tower. This ancient minaret once stood in the capital of the Kharakhanid Empire (11th century). The city was an important part of the Great Silk Road. Here, we’ll spend about 40 minutes enjoying the panoramic view from the top of the tower, walking around the territory to see "balbals" (gravestones with depictions) and visiting the archaeology museum. Resuming the road. Visiting the picturesque Kok Moinok canyon for a light but awesome hike with some otherworldly views. Lunch at a restaurant. Stopping by Orto Tokoi reservoir on the way. Next, we’re heading up some beautiful serpentine mountain passes towards the magnificent Son Kol lake (3000m above sea level). Check in to a private yurt (traditional Kyrgyz dwelling). Free time for walking around the lake at sunset. Dinner. Bonfire time and counting millions of stars. Overnight.
2 Day
Son Kol lake - Naryn town
Today we’re exploring the majestic lake itself, its green pastures and its enchanting landscapes. In the morning, after breakfast we’re starting our horseback ride on the vast lush meadows along the lake. Afterwards, we’ll have a short walk up a mountain hill to contemplate the lake from a viewpoint. This is a perfect spot for taking photos and just relaxing. Descending back to the camp. Now you have some free time to explore the lake on your own before we leave. Lunch at a kitchen yurt. Next, we're departing and descending down some other jaw-dropping mountain passes. A short stop by a lovely waterfall on the way. Resuming the road. Arrival in Naryn town. Check in to a hotel (Grand Khan Tengri 4*). Free time for rest. Dinner at a restaurant. Overnight.
3 Day
Naryn - Kel Suu lake
In the morning, after breakfast we’re heading to the place that will definitely end up in your TOP 5 spots of the world - and that is the out-of-imagination Kel Suu lake. It is located in one of the remotest areas of Kyrgyzstan, some mountain passes away from China, and therefore, driving to Kel Suu will be absolute scenes! Passing through the border checkpoints with special permits. After a scenic 3-hour off-road drive, we’ll arrive at Kel Suu’s base camp. Check in (wooden shacks). Lunch. Afterwards, we’re embarking on a fascinating horseback ride to the lake itself (1,5 hours one way). Upon reaching Kel Suu we're exploring this magical nature’s creation on a motorboat, gliding along the turquoise surface, guarded by the rocky mountains on both sides. Personal time for enjoying this breathtaking place. Return back to the camp. Free time for rest and enjoying the enchanting views of the Kok Kiya valley. Dinner at the camp. Bonfire time under starry sky. Overnight.
4 Day
Kel Suu - Naryn - Bishkek
In the morning you’ll have some more personal time to walk around and contemplate the surroundings of Kel Suu. Next, we’re leaving this magical place and driving back to Naryn. Along the way, you'll have the unique opportunity to see the wonderful local wildlife: yaks and marmots in their natural habitat. Arrival in Naryn town. Lunch at a restaurant. After some freshening up we're continuing our drive to Bishkek. Upon arrival in the capital city you'll be dropped off at your hotel. This is the end of our intense but awesome tour, thank you very much!
